Kadlec Tri-Cities Cancer Center Receives $10K Grant
The Kadlec Tri-Cities Cancer Center Nursing Academy has been awarded a $10,000 Local Heroes Grant from the Gesa Community Foundation to support the training of new oncology nurses.
The funding will help 25 nurses complete a 12-week oncology residency program that combines hands-on training with classroom instruction, using nationally recognized standards from the Oncology Nursing Society and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
“To be awarded this grant and be able to train these nurses that have the calling to be an oncology nurse is huge — especially in our very small community,” said Lisa Lakey, clinical educator at the Kadlec Tri-Cities Cancer Center. “To be able to find nurses who want to do oncology and have a passion for it is very difficult.
