Knoll's 'Biboni' Sofa: A Blend of 1970s Icons and the Michelin Man

Architects Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee designed the 'Biboni' sofa for Knoll, drawing inspiration from 1970s icons and the Michelin Man, also known as Bibendum.

The design process involved brainstorming names, eventually merging 'Bibendum' and 'Macaroni' to create 'Biboni'. The sofa collection features curves that envelop the body and a frame that appears to float.

The "Biboni" has a chubbiness that feels welcoming and informal. It also has the precision and purity of a centrepiece in a room.

The 'Biboni' collection includes two-, three-, and four-seaters, as well as sectionals with chaise options, offering a sophisticated piece of furniture.

Author's summary: Knoll's 'Biboni' sofa combines 1970s style with modern comfort.
