After discovering PFAS in its drinking water, the Eastern Oregon city of Hermiston has stopped testing for these chemicals.
PFAS, also known as "forever chemicals," have been linked to various health issues, including cancers, liver and heart damage, and immune and developmental problems in infants and children, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
PFAS are sometimes referred to as "forever chemicals" because of their resistance to degradation.
It has been two years since Hermiston officials revealed the presence of PFAS in the city's water supply, and it may be years before residents receive more information about the discovery.
