Erik Johnson's new role is a perfect fit. The Colorado Avalanche had a busy opening week, with two road trips to L.A. and Buffalo, and two home games in between.
After a shootout loss on Saturday, the team had a quick turnaround, with an early flight on Monday and a 12:30 pm ET puck drop. They now have over 72 hours between games to work on improvements.
Additionally, there are significant goalie injuries around the league, and the New York Rangers have set a new home record they wish they could forget.
It's been nice for the Avalanche to get this kind of time away after a rather busy opening week.
