Judge Halts Saints Statues in Quincy

A dispute has arisen over the installation of statues of St. Michael and St. Florian in Quincy, intended to honor the city's first responders.

"We chose the statues of Michael and Florian to honor Quincy's first responders, not to promote any religion," said Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch.

Mike Cotter, a lifelong resident of Quincy, opposes the statues, despite sharing a common background with Mayor Koch, including being named after one of the saints to be honored.

A lawsuit has been filed, and a judge has halted the installation of the statues.

Author's summary: Quincy's saint statues installation halted.
