Rosatom and Uzatom have initiated the construction of a low-power nuclear power plant (NPP) in Uzbekistan, utilizing the RITM-200N reactor.
The site, located in the Farish district of the Jizzakh region, will also feature two high-power VVER-1000 units and two RITM-200N units, combining large and small reactors on a single site.
“Today we begin a new stage in the implementation of the project to create nuclear generation in Uzbekistan,” said Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev.
The initial stage of work involves the development of a pit for the low-power NPP, requiring the removal of approximately 1.5 million cubic meters of soil to a depth of 13 meters.
