A ProPublica investigation found that federal agents have held scores of U.S. citizens, some for more than 24 hours.
According to the investigation, which originally appeared on ProPublica, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative newsroom, these detentions have been a reality for many citizens.
“If the officers learn that the individual they stopped is a U.S. citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States,” Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote, “they promptly let the individual go.”
However, the experience of many citizens has been far from this statement, with some being dragged, tackled, beaten, tased, and shot by immigration agents, and having their necks kneeled on.
Author's summary: Trump's immigration agents wrongly detained over 170 US citizens, despite Justice Kavanaugh's claims.
