A project has connected Americans to Dutch people who visit and honor their relatives at a World War II cemetery in the Netherlands.
June West Brandt, 93, was delighted to discover that a Dutch couple regularly visits a marker for her older brother, William Durham West, Jr., who was killed in WWII. Her brother, a kind and artistic person who loved to play boogie-woogie on the piano, has never been far from her mind.
“It’s wonderful for me to know that someone is there,”
said Brandt, who lives near Houston.
The project brings comfort to families like Brandt's, connecting them to those who remember and honor their loved ones who died in the war.
