Caregivers of adults with disabilities at Evergreen Supported Living in Bellingham have ratified a new two-year contract, including higher wages and changes to training.
The new starting wage is $21.75/hour, with wages ranging up to $25.98/hour depending on experience.
"This union contract will provide competitive wages, and a voice at the table when it comes to decisions that affect our work and the quality of care we can provide,"
said Bryce Squires, an Evergreen employee. The caregivers, represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 775, currently care for eight clients, with Evergreen comprising 21 unionized caregivers.
