The Monongalia County Commission has decided to cancel its group health insurance plan due to "unsustainable" costs.
In a unanimous vote, the commission approved the switch to an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) through Take Command Health, effective December.
The move will decouple the county's overall spend on insurance from its group history, which is driving steep increases year over year.
