From October 18 to November 30, the Umatilla River will be closed to chinook salmon fishing from the Highway 730 bridge to Threemile Dam.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife made this decision due to low numbers of returning fish and increasing harvest rates,
to ensure it collects enough fish at Threemile Dam for breeding and to support the long-term sustainability of the chinook fishery in the Umatilla.
The daily bag limit for steelhead on the river remains at three fish.
