Teachers to vote on strike action over ‘crippling’ workload

Teachers to Vote on Strike Action

Teachers will vote on strike action next month due to "excessive" workloads.

The EIS union has notified Scottish councils of its intention to open a ballot for industrial action.

The promise made by the Scottish government was based on a reduction of teachers’ maximum class contact time, to 21 hours per week.

EIS general secretary Andrea Bradley stated that this move serves as a warning to the Scottish government ahead of the SNP conference in Aberdeen.

Author's summary: Teachers vote on strike over workload.
