GIRLS GOLF: Dakota’s Monteith keeps rising charts with a bullet

Marissa Monteith's Rise in Golf

Marissa Monteith, a junior at Macomb Dakota, has been making a name for herself in girls' golf.

In eighth grade, her parents gave her an ultimatum: if she was to give up softball, she would still have to play a school sport.

"My grandpa lives on a golf course and I've played golf for fun growing up. I guess I was pretty good at it, but never really took it seriously,"

recalled Monteith. She tried out for the golf team in high school, and despite the coach not knowing her at first, she has since risen through the charts.

"My parents said there was no way I would just sit around after school and not do anything,"

she added. Monteith's determination and natural talent have propelled her to success in the sport.

Author's summary: Marissa Monteith rises in golf charts.
