On Thursday night, while the Pittsburgh Penguins were securing a 5-3 victory over the Florida Panthers, Cooley was having a remarkable night in the NHL. He recorded a natural hat trick in less than five minutes against the St. Louis Blues.
The first goal came at the 6:07 mark of the first period, when Cooley received a pass from Dylan Guenther in the slot and fired a one-timer to extend the Mammoth's lead.

Two minutes later, Cooley scored again on a broken play, sliding the puck between his own legs to spring himself on a half breakaway and scoring five-hole on the St. Louis Blues' goalie.
