Nat Adderley, Jr. wrote his first tune, "I'm On My Way", at the age of 11, which appeared on a recording of his uncle Cannonball Adderley.

He was not pressured by his uncle or father Nat to pursue music, but found his calling on his own.

Nat Adderley, Jr. worked with Luther Vandross as his pianist and musical director for over two decades.

His debut recording as a leader is titled "Took So Long", showcasing his love for jazz creativity.
