Updating Mobile Number for Driving Licence is Mandatory
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), driving licence holders and vehicle owners must update their mobile numbers linked to their licences or vehicles.
Those with incorrect, inactive, or unlinked numbers will not receive important information, such as
challans, fine notices, or licence renewals.
- Official messages from the transport department are sent to the linked mobile number.
- If the number is old or deactivated, the system cannot send alerts.
MoRTH had issued a notification in August 2024 for vehicle owners to get their vehicle's Aadhaar verification done.
