President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. condemned attempts to turn Scarborough Shoal into a "nature reserve" on Sunday, October 26.
Marcos told ASEAN leaders and United States President that the move
clearly violates not only Philippine sovereignty, but also the traditional fishing rights of our people guaranteed by international law.
These rights, Marcos said, are protected by the 1982 UNCLOS, and affirmed by the 2016 arbitral ruling and other domestic laws.
Marcos criticized the move by
some actorswithout naming them.
