30 journalists embody struggle for freely reported environmental coverage

Journalists' Struggle for Environmental Coverage

From Cambodia to the Amazon, from France to Egypt, journalists covering environmental stories face obstruction, threats, arrest, attack, or even jail or death.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) highlights 30 cases of persecuted journalists covering environmental issues in the past year.

Our goal: to leave no breach of freedom of information unreported.

In light of COP30, starting on 10 November in Belém, Brazil, RSF calls on governments to defend reliable reporting and its actors in the fight against climate change.

RSF publishes daily reports, investigations, and a world press freedom ranking from its 115-country network.

Author's summary: Journalists face persecution for environmental coverage worldwide.
