Was Salt Lake City’s ‘No Kings’ protest a success? Organizers look back, and look ahead.

Assessing the Success of Salt Lake City's 'No Kings' Protest

Organizers of Salt Lake City's second "No Kings" protest have reflected on the event's outcome and are looking ahead to future actions.

The protest, which took place on October 18, aimed to create a peaceful atmosphere in front of the Utah Capitol, where participants could gather to protest President Donald Trump and his administration.

Organizers, including Jamie Carter, were under pressure to ensure a safe and peaceful event, given the history of political violence in Utah, including the deaths of Afa Ah Loo and Charlie Kirk.

Two deadly instances of political violence in Utah had occurred prior to the protest: the June 14 death of fashion designer Afa Ah Loo, who was hit by an errant shot from an armed security guard during a No Kings march, and the Sept. 10 killing of political activist Charlie Kirk during a rally on the Utah Valley University campus in Orem.
