Following the recent scandal at ELTE, thousands of international students in Hungary may face tightened scholarship contracts.
A lecture by Alexander Yakobson, a historian from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was disrupted on October 16, prompting two ministers and the university rector to demand accountability.
“Diverzitás és demokrácia az izraeli társadalomban”
was the title of Yakobson's lecture series, which is still available on ELTE's website. However, due to the disruption, only two of the three sessions could be attended online.
The incident began when some students wearing keffiyehs shouted that the lecture was political propaganda supporting Israeli genocide, causing a disturbance that neither the lecturer, attendees, nor security could calm.
