The spooky season is coming to a close, although it feels like it's been going on since "back to school". Now it's time to get your kids dressed up for Trick-or-treat.

Chocolate or candy - or both - are a big part of the celebration. America has largely popularized Halloween worldwide, despite its origins in the ancient tradition of "Samhain" (SOW-wayn), which marks the end of the harvest.

With the harvest complete, people had time for storytelling and believed that the diminishing daylight blurred the line between life and death, making it a time when the dead could roam the earth.
