Meridian Field Hockey Beats Kettle Run In Overtime
Meridian High School's field hockey team defeated Kettle Run Cougars 2-1 in overtime, punching their ticket to states.
The game was a rematch of a contest 12 days prior, where the Mustangs also emerged victorious. Emma Flanagan, who scored the only goal in the previous match, scored 90 seconds into overtime.
The first half was scoreless for both teams, until Zorah Randhawa scored late in the third period, getting the Mustangs on the board.
This win marked the second consecutive game that required extra minutes for the Mustangs, following a shootout against Fauquier in their regular season finale.
