Towson University Professor Files Wrongful Termination Lawsuit
A former Towson University professor has filed a lawsuit alleging wrongful termination after reporting conflicts of interest in a faculty hiring process.
According to the lawsuit, filed in late September, Brian Gorman, a tenured professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice, was fired after whistleblowing.
- Gorman reported a possible conflict of interest in January 2021 for the hiring process of a tenure-track faculty position.
- In April, at the final meeting to select a candidate for the job, one professor confessed to having a professional relationship with one of the candidates.
- Gorman also submitted three other whistleblowing complaints from November.
No comment from the university or the administrators and professors involved in the lawsuit.
