Transworld publicity director Patsy Irwin will retire at the end of November, after 35 years with the publisher.
Irwin started her career at Ash & Grant in 1977, then moved to Michael Joseph in 1980, where she worked with authors including James Herriot and Gloria Swanson.
She joined Transworld in 1991 as publicity manager for Bantam Press, becoming publicity director in 2005. Since 2009, she has shared the head of department role with Alison Barrow.
It wouldn’t be hard to work for Transworld for ever, but all good things must come to an end. Reaching my 70th birthday, not to mention 35 years with the company, seemed as good a time as any to retire.
Alison Barrow will continue to lead the team as PR director.
