Local cardiology offerings increase

Expansion of Cardiology Services

Greater Regional Health is expanding its cardiology services, enabling patients to receive treatment closer to home. This development reduces the need for long drives to Des Moines.

Recent investments in hospital facilities and the hiring of cardiologists have made unique procedures available.

Chief Quality Officer Kimberly Weehler and Chief of Staff Dr. Matthew Epp discussed the hospital's cardiology offerings and future plans.

New Diagnostic Tests

Two new cardiac diagnostic tests will be available: cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA) and coronary calcium scoring. CCTA analyzes the heart's arteries for plaque buildup and blockages.

With the continued onboarding of cardiology staff, Greater Regional plans to expand its cardiology services further.
