Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has organized a second press conference in New Delhi, inviting women journalists after facing criticism for excluding them from a previous press meet.
Muttaqi's initial press conference on October 10 was criticized for being a men-only briefing, with photographs showing no female journalists present.
The Editors Guild of India and the Indian Women’s Press Corps (IWPC) called the exclusion “highly discriminatory,”
rejecting any justification based on diplomatic protocol or the Vienna Convention. Journalists, opposition leaders, and women’s rights groups also condemned the move.
Muttaqi has now scheduled another media interaction, this time inviting female reporters, in an attempt to address the backlash.
