Libya’s Attorney General, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, has ordered the detention of Ali Al-Abed, the Acting Minister of Education, pending investigation into alleged irregularities and negligence in managing contracts for printing school textbooks.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, an inquiry into contracting procedures uncovered violations that harmed the public interest and infringed on the right to education, prompting Al-Abed's detention.
The decision to detain Al-Abed was made to further investigate the alleged irregularities.
