Peter Maboa, a part-time farmer, has finally received the last of his winnings from the Carousel casino, two years after his initial win.
Maboa had won R168,433 playing on the 10c machines, but was told by the casino that they did not have the funds to pay him the full amount at the time.
“When I won, the casino people said they did not have the funds to pay me the full amount. They gave me R30,000 in cash and said if I gave them my account details, they would transfer the rest,”
Maboa had to wait for the final R35,000 instalment, which was paid after media involvement. Another winner, Israel Mogotsi, also faced similar delays with his R400,000 Bingo prize.
The Carousel casino is now closed, but Maboa has been made whole, receiving the final payment of R35,000.
