Weston's Historical Society and Library Collaborate to Preserve Town's History

The Weston Historical Society and the Weston Public Library have joined forces to encourage locals to preserve and celebrate the town's unique history.

The first ordinance passed after the Village of Weston was incorporated in 1874 was to stop people from tying their horses to newly planted trees instead of using the new town's hitching posts.

Were the town's business owners so distressed over people hitching their horses to the downtown trees that they were like, 'You know what? It's time to form a government? - Jeremy Schroeder, Weston Historical Society President

According to Schroeder, the discovery of the town's first ordinance could have been used to support his recommendation for planting more trees, although he mentioned this jokingly.

Author's summary: Weston's historical society and library team up to preserve town history.
