Wealth Taxes to Boost Public Services and Economy

UNISON general secretary Christina McAnea commented on the chancellor's speech, stating that the UK's public services are in a terrible state due to austerity and cuts.

"The gloomy economic outlook demands a fiscal reset. That means raising taxes for those most able to pay more, and not those already struggling to pay their bills."

McAnea emphasized the need to make big businesses and multinationals pay their fair share, and praised Rachel Reeves for recognizing the need to invest in essential services like the NHS, police, and schools.

UNISON, the UK's largest union with over 1.3 million members, provides public services in education, local government, the NHS, police service, and energy.
