Amidst dwindling donor funding in the health sector, integration of services remains crucial to ensuring that the progress made in the fight against HIV is not reversed, according to Douglas Bosire, acting CEO of the National Syndemic Disease Control Council (NSDCC).
The importance of integrated services was highlighted during the Africa Health Systems Forum 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya, themed ‘The Case for Sustainable Health Financing and Africa’s Way Forward.’
Donor funding, including from the US government, has significantly contributed to Kenya’s progress in HIV treatment and prevention. However, a stop order implemented by the US government in early 2025 threatened this progress.
The US is the second largest contributor to HIV funding in Kenya, besides the Global Fund.
