A pumpkin carving competition was held in Madras City Hall on Halloween, and after votes were recorded, Jessica Snyder was announced the winner.
Snyder, the Records Specialist for the Madras Police Department, won the competition out of five other competitors with her unique design featuring a pumpkin with its mouth agape, inside a larger one designed as a prison cell, and hands wrapping around two of the bars.
"I had seen something similar last year," Snyder said. "And I thought, 'Oh, that would be really cool for like a police department pumpkin.'"
Snyder mentioned that she had the idea for her pumpkin design last year, but didn’t have the time to enter as she had just been hired in her role.
