We’re back to Green on the Threat Tracker as winds have eased, and only light passing lake showers remain this morning. Rain chances should fade by afternoon, leading to partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 40s.
Winds stay generally calm, with the strongest gusts around 20 MPH. Tomorrow, the breeze strengthens ahead of another front, bringing gusts near 30 MPH along with rain later in the day and into the evening.
Saturday will be cool and mostly cloudy with lighter winds. By Sunday, a low-pressure system is expected to move nearby, bringing widespread rain, while areas across the lake could see snow.
As Sunday night approaches, colder air wraps around this system, giving us our first real chance for snow. Higher elevations stand the best chance to see flakes by late Sunday night.
By Monday, a surge of cold Canadian air moves deep into the U.S., creating conditions favorable for light lake-effect snow as winds shift from the north. Tuesday’s northwest winds will enhance the lake effect off Lake Ontario, offering a better chance of scattered snow showers.
No significant accumulations are expected, but timing and totals will become clearer as we approach the event. Daytime highs Monday and Tuesday will remain stuck in the 30s.
