Glenn Close reveals she took Valium before ‘traumatic’ Fatal Attraction audition

Glenn Close Reveals Taking Valium Before “Fatal Attraction” Audition

Glenn Close admitted she took a Valium to calm her nerves before auditioning for one of her most memorable roles, the "Bunny Boiler" in the 1987 psychological thriller Fatal Attraction. The 78-year-old actress, known for her wide range of film roles including 101 Dalmatians, Hillbilly Elegy, and Dangerous Liaisons, described the experience as “traumatic.”

Audition Experience and Nervousness

On an episode of The Kardashians, Glenn shared behind-the-scenes details with her All Stars co-stars while watching her famous film. She recalled the challenge of preparing for the audition:

“I was doing a play on Broadway and I had to let my understudy go on, which is a big deal, fly to LA. And my hair was long and wild and crazy. And I said, ‘What am I going to do with my hair?’ And I finally said, ‘Oh f**k it, I’m just gonna go like that.’ And I was so nervous I took a Valium.”

Reaction to Valium

Unfamiliar with the drug, Close felt the Valium might have been too strong for her. Addressing her co-stars, including Kim Kardashian, she explained:

“I don’t take Valiums, so the fact that I took a Valium meant it was serious.”
