Multiple organizations are providing assistance to those in need amidst recent SNAP benefit disruptions.
Due to the government shutdown, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits were temporarily suspended. This impacted approximately 42 million Americans who depend on SNAP monthly for food purchases.
On Monday, the administration announced partial funding of SNAP for November, following judicial rulings mandating continuation of the nation’s largest food aid program.
Many local food pantries have increased their efforts to bridge the gap caused by paused benefits. The Executive Director of United Way of Central Nebraska stated:
“We understand that many families rely on SNAP benefits to put food on the table. We want everyone to know that help is available.”
United Way of South Central Nebraska has created and shared a food resources list for those in need.
