First and Last Bakery, LLC, based in Hartford, Connecticut, has initiated a recall of certain tomato sauce products due to a potential contamination risk involving the bacteria that causes botulism, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“Manufactured without an approved scheduled process or otherwise evaluated to determine if the process is adequate,” the FDA stated.
Improper processing of acidified or low-acid canned foods can allow the growth of Clostridium botulinum, the bacterium responsible for botulism.
