Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill (D-Montclair) has declared his candidacy for Congress, seeking to fill the seat soon to be vacated by Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey's 11th congressional district. He has already secured the support of a wide range of prominent Essex County Democrats.
Gill, a seasoned Democratic Party figure, brings extensive experience and has garnered endorsements from over 60 Essex County Democrats. This includes seven local state legislators alongside numerous elected officials and party leaders backing his campaign.
“I’m running for Congress because our president, enabled by bootlickers in Congress and Wall Street, is wreaking havoc on our streets, hollowing out our economy, tearing down our American values,” Gill said in his launch video.
“I’m running to fight back against Donald Trump and his crooked buddies, and to make sure that everyone has a place at the table.”
Gill emphasizes his commitment to oppose the current administration's policies and to advocate for constituents marginalized by political and economic forces.
Brendan Gill enters the special election with strong local support, positioning himself as a dedicated opponent of the Trump administration and a defender of inclusive American values.
