Cadets to Hold Vigil Before Remembrance Day Service in Brantford

Brantford joins communities across Canada in honoring those who served and continue to serve the country during war and peace. Citizens are invited to participate and pay their respects on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

“We encourage members of our community to join us on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, as we remember, with deep respect and immense gratitude, the remarkable sacrifices of others,” said Sharon Sayles, communications advisor for the City of Brantford.

Vigil and Memorial Lighting

Cadets will hold a vigil starting Monday evening from 6 p.m. until midnight, continuing at 7 a.m. the next day. During the night, the Brant War Memorial will remain illuminated.

Remembrance Day March and Ceremony

The Civic Service of Remembrance will start at 10:50 a.m. During the ceremony, a B-25 Mitchell bomber and an FF46 Firefly aircraft from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton are scheduled to perform a fly-past, weather permitting.

School Speech Presentation and Veteran Recognition

A John’s College student, winner of a local speech-writing contest, will present her speech titled The Role of Canadian Soldiers in War One. The ceremony will also honor one First World War veteran and 22 Second World War veterans, whose names were recently added to the Brant War Memorial after being identified as missing earlier this year.

Summary: Brantford’s Remembrance Day events include a cadet vigil, a march, a fly-past, a student speech, and recognition of veterans recently identified on the local war memorial.
