Montreal aims to recover from a disappointing performance as they travel to New Jersey. The game starts at 7:00 PM EST / 4:00 PM PST.
The Canadiens hoped to extend their winning streak to five games but instead suffered a tough loss on Tuesday night.
"Facing the possibility of a five-game winning streak, les Habitants played what has been described as their worst game of the season, yielding three goals to the Philadelphia Flyers in the first period."
The game was intended to help goalie Samuel Montembeault regain his form and confidence. However, he allowed three goals on his first six shots.
"The native of Becancour felt the crimson glow of the goal lamp thrice within the first six shots on goal that he faced."
Montembeault rebounded impressively, stopping 35 of the next 36 shots, including several remarkable saves. His strong play allowed Montreal to control much of the remaining game.
Key players Lane Hutson and Ivan Demidov, supported by Juraj Slafkovský, Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Kirby Dach, helped Montreal take the lead going into the final period.
Unfortunately, Montreal’s early mistakes left no room for error, and Nikita Grebenkin tied the game with his first NHL goal. The Flyers then won the shootout to claim the extra point.
"A single instance of bad fortune let Nikita Grebenkin tie the game with his first NHL goal. The Flyers would proceed to secure the extra point in the shootout."
The Canadiens struggled early but showed resilience before a costly error allowed the Flyers to tie and eventually win in a shootout.
